Epidemiological frequency of orthopedic abnormalities

Epidemiological frequency of orthopedic abnormalities

abnormalities Congenital orthopedic  seems in most cases rare compared to other congenital anomalies (either a frequency of 0.0024 of limb amputations or skeletal dysplasias at birth)

but the frequencies relating to abnormalities of the genetic limbs (reductional abnormalities, polydactyly (6th finger), syndactyly (fusion of two or more fingers) or malposition of the extremities), is the frequency of one for 1000 births.

In the majority of cases, orthopedic abnormalities are simple and isolated, but they may be associated with spinal abnormalities, integrated skeletal diseases, metabolic disorders or other malformations in the context of a complex polymalformation syndrome or syndromic connection.

abnormalities may be of chromosomal origin, genes or be the repercussion of intoxication by the effect of certain drugs or tobacco or alcohol during the period of pregnancy,

an uterine malformation can be the cause of deformations of the baby where the fetus is compressed inside, resulting in retraction or even poor positioning of the limbs or nose ...

may also be noted the
traumatic lesions (which are rare) during childbirth, which require immediate emergency diagnosis and treatment,

Favoring factors and family history

Examination of congenital or non-congenital orthopedic abnormalities may be usually done by ultrasonographic follow-up or managed by the medical file of one or more family members such as parents and grandparents either by hereditary history or by circumstances during pregnancy, such as infectious, diabetic or toxic risks such as alcohol and the vasoconstrictor effects of certain drugs during embryogenesis

  3. Always neat to learn more info on subjects like this! My husband was born with only three fingers on one hand and Back when I worked as a cashier I noticed quite a few people who had been born with a hand or other type of abnormalities so I know there are quite a few people out there with them.
